A new edition of the National Deaf Children’s Society’s deaf-friendly teaching guide for secondary schools is now available to order and download. The guide is relevant for anyone working with deaf pupils in a secondary education setting in all nations of the UK.

The guide includes advice, templates and checklists about the following topics.

  • General teaching, learning and support strategies for deaf pupils
  • Subject-specific adjustments for deaf learners
  • Supporting transitions
  • Exam access arrangements
  • Listening and communication
  • Social, emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Preparing for adulthood

Blank copies of all templates are included at the back of the resource. These can be downloaded, printed or photocopied for use with students.

If you or your colleagues use a previous edition of the resource (previously known as ‘Supporting the achievement of deaf pupils in secondary schools’), please recycle it and order a new copy at https://ndcs-bookshop.myshopify.com/products/deaf-friendly-teaching-for-secondary-school-staff.
