We are pleased to announce the publication of a new resource: Supporting the achievement of learners with vision impairment in Higher Education.

This resource has been produced by the Vision Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research (VICTAR), University of Birmingham with support from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), the Thomas Pocklington Trust and the National Sensory Impairment Partnership (NatSIP).

The content (including illustrative case studies) has been informed by the research evidence based on the experiences of students with vision impairment in 25 different HE UK institutions.

This 40-page guide has been produced to aid Higher Education professionals understand how they can best work with students who have vision impairment, to facilitate a positive and inclusive experience.

The Office of the Independent Adjudicator, the body responsible for reviewing student complaints against institutions, has released guidance for higher education providers in supporting disabled students and handling their complaints.

Useful guidance to be aware of when supporting higher education students. Note that it applies to higher education only.

The government has published the T level Action Plan today. This gives more detail on the plans for introducing technical education reform, and T levels in particular. The plan sets out opportunities for those who want to be involved and contribute.

It sets out recent progress and plans for the coming months, specifically:
 
a) How T levels fit within the wider education landscape, what they are and who they are for. It confirms that T levels will be offered at level 3.

b)  A high level timetable for implementation, confirming which T level routes and pathways will be delivered when, and by whom

c) Next steps on the development of key elements of the programme

d) Confirmation that qualifications will be offered under exclusive licensing

e) An announcement that we have formally convened T level Panels, made up of employers, professional bodies and providers, to develop outline content for the new qualifications
