Colleagues in the KiDS Team (Keele Interdisciplinary Developmental Science (KiDS) lab) at Keele University ( School of Psychology - Lab Lead: Dr Claire Monroy) are recruiting families for a research project aiming to investigate the early cognitive development indeafinfants, prior to receiving cochlear implants (if applicable).

This project uses EEG to examine neural responses to visual stimuli in infants who have hearing loss, with the goal of identifying the cognitive processes that underlie any differences in how they process the visual information. The hope is that this research will shed light on strengths and adaptations ofdeafinfants to their environment and provide much needed information about their brain development that will be useful to parents, clinicians, and teachers of thedeaf.

The KiDS Team are currently recruiting families who have babies with hearing loss who might be interested in participating, we may also be able to travel to families who cannot travel to Stafford.   Facebook page here Keele interdisciplinary Developmental Science | Facebook gives a feel of the research set up.
