Profile
I have been a Qualified Teacher of Vision Impaired Children and Young People in excess of 14 years. I originally trained as a Primary School Teacher, then studied for the Mandatory QTVI qualification at the IOE London. I ran an Additional Resource Provision in a mainstream primary school for approximately 7 years, supporting children in accessing the curriculum using their preferred learning medium, including Braille. I took early retirement and then became part of a local Sensory Service working in an Outreach position, part time. I visit a variety of homes, nurseries and schools, assessing the individual needs of the children. I support families, staff and SENDCO's to enable the children with a vision impairment to have the best learning experience possible. I am also a Teaching Placement Supervisor for the University of Birmingham, supervising the training of future QTVI's.
