Profile
I am a qualified teacher (QTS) with over 30 years of experience in a diverse range of educational settings, across all ages and stages of education including pre-school, special schools and post 16. I have worked in a local authority as a QTVI, Team Leader and Habilitation Specialist for 20 years and more recently as an Independent Qualified Teacher of Vision/Visual Impairment (QTVI) and a Qualified Registered Habilitation Specialist with Hab VI UK. I have extensive experience working with parents, babies, children and young people with vision impairment, including those with complex needs, from birth to 25 years.
I can provide independent advice, training, support and teaching within all educational settings and homes. I also have experience working closely with, and training professionals from a range of other services including, health, social care and educational psychology.
I have considerable experience carrying out specialist vision assessments, including assessments for developing early visual skills, IT, braille/tactile learning, functional vision, large print, specialist assistive technology, exam access arrangements, transition for all key Stages and post 16, habilitation/independence skills/mobility assessments. Following assessments I have authored reports for a range of audiences including local authorities, independent schools, colleges and legal professionals.
I work closely with colleagues in Local Authorities to help to meet any shortfall in local QTVI or Habilitation service provision.
