Jenny has been working in Special Education for nearly 40 years. She initially worked in SLD schools before becoming a peripatetic teacher for hearing impaired children. In 2006 she attained a post graduate certificate in MSI at the University of Birmingham.
Jenny has worked for Sense for 28 years, in addition to supporting children and their families, she has a great deal of experience working with adults with congenital Deafblindness. During this time, Jenny became Head of the Family Education Advisory Service in the Midlands and Southwest locality and Deputy Head of the National Children’s Specialist Service. She provides statutory assessments such as advice towards EHCp and Social Care. Jenny delivers training throughout Britain and with Sense International working in countries throughout the world. She has spoken at several International conferences.
With colleagues Jenny developed the first Intervenor course in 1989, this has been delivered on a regular basis throughout England and abroad, delivering 10-15 five day courses a year. Jenny was instrumental in its accreditation with the University of Northampton.
In 2006 Jenny was presented with the Oscar Myers Award for her ‘dedicated and sustained contribution for the education and well-being of Multi-Sensory Impaired children’. Jenny is Chair of the National Organisation of Intervenors and Chair of Stroud District Mencap.
