Steering Group Member | (Berkshire Sensory Consortium Service)

Jane Peters is the Head of Service of the Berkshire Sensory Consortium Service which is a joint arrangement between the six Local Authorities across Berkshire.

She is a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and has worked in resource provision, special schools and in a variety of roles in peripatetic services since 1988.

As head of Service, she works closely with the six LAs on their strategic planning for SEND, and with Area SENCOs and school improvement teams.

Jane has been involved in a number of NATSIP projects including the setting up of the RCE MSI course and writing the HI Online Inset course.

Jane has been a Lecturer in Deaf Education for over 10 years on the Teacher of the Deaf Mandatory qualification and as Course Leader on the Early Years and Deafness postgraduate  PGDip/MA.

She is particularly passionate about

  • Building the capacity of others to meet the needs of SI learners through training and mentorship
  • Early Years and working with families
  • Sensory Impaired young people with additional and complex needs

Jane  has been a Chair of Governors for 12 Years and the Chair of the Keys Multi Academy Trust in Wokingham Since 2016.
