Brian Lamb is the NatSIP scrutineer and also contributes to policy and research for NatSIP.  This is also includes advice on strategic planning and commissioning.  He is also a consultant specialising on SEND and hearing loss.  This includes advice around legislation and policy including good practice on parental engagement.  He is also Chair of the charity Achievement for All, Chair of the Alliance on Hearing Loss and the NHS England working group on Living Well with Hearing Loss.

Brian chaired the Lamb Inquiry into Parental Confidence in Special Education Needs (2008-2010).  He has worked extensively with parent partnership groups and local authorities on implementing the SEND reforms. 

He has served on a number of UK Government working groups including the Disability Rights Task Force where he helped develop proposals which informed the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 (SENDA).  He was also a member of the Ministerial Implementation Group for Aiming High for Disabled Children, the Special Schools working group, and the Children’s Plan working group. From 2000-2010 he was the Chair of the Special Education Consortium. 

Before becoming a consultant, Brian was Executive Director of Advocacy and Policy at Action on Hearing Loss (formally RNID, 2000-2010) and previously worked for Scope (1985-2000) in a number of senior positions.
He is also a Visiting Professor in SEND at Derby University.
