The annual Heads of Sensory Support Services event will be held on Friday 15th June at the University of Birmingham. The theme for the day will be: "The Changing Landscape - one year on".

Heads and senior managers of SI schools and services are invited to make a note of the date in their diaries. Further information will be available late March.

Amanda Everitt, manager of www.buzz.org.uk, the National Deaf Children’s Society website for deaf children and young people aged 8-18 is looking for an enthusiastic teacher of the deaf or a deaf awareness trainer who has extensive experience in the educational sector to work in partnership with them to develop some lesson plans.

Outcomes Benchmarking data collection 2012 PDF Print Email

A technical problem has arisen with the NatSIP outcomes benchmarking on-line data submission forms. This has resulted in a delay to the start of being able to submit your data. We apologise profusely for this and are working to resolve the fault. Normal service should be resumed very soon.

Please keep collecting your information in preparation for submission.

RNIB survey questionnaire: London, East and South East region PDF Print Email

RNIB is carrying out a survey of VI services and schools in London and the south, east and south east of England as part of a review of the Disabilities of Sight programme.
The programme is run by the Institute of Education (IOE), University of London in conjunction with RNIB and leads to the mandatory qualification for teachers of pupils with vision impairment (QTVI).

Phonics Guidance from NDCS - updated PDF Print Email

NDCS has published a 2nd edition of their jointly produced phonics guidance. NDCS phonics guidance 2012
It has been updated to reflect that there are now a number of government approved phonics schemes.
The guidance is more generic and a less England specific which is helpful in making the document far more relevant to the whole of the UK

A NatSIP seminar day to look closely at the requirements  and duties of the Equalities Act 2010 will be held on Wednesday 29th February, at Hamilton House in London. Attachments for Equality Act seminar 29 02 2012

The day will be led by Richard Rieser. Richard is a disabled teacher, trainer and international consultant on disability equality and inclusion. He has carried out many projects for Government and others to promote disability equality and made a number of films and written several books on the subject.
