NatSIP launched its guidance on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in January 2015, as the Children and Families Act 2014 introduced the legislation to educational settings.

Written by Jane Sinson, author of the book Applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in Education (2015, London, Jessica Kingsley Publishers), the guidance is practical and hands-on, and has been tested in NatSIP workshops and on MCA training days.

In addtiion to the guidance, we have produced a set of MCA assessment recording forms for use with SI young people. These accompany NatSIP MCA assessment guidance notes.

The documents are available in the document library (registration and login rqured).
