Have Your Say on the Governments 2026 SEND Reforms

Thomas Pocklington Trust are inviting young people to join a focus group to talk about the proposals for reform to the SEND system planned by the Department for Education. This is your chance to share what you really think about the proposals and shape our response to the consultation.
What are the send Reforms?
The SEND reforms 2026 are planned changes to how support works for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The Department for Educations (DfE) goal is to make it easier to get help in schools and colleges without long delays or complicated paperwork. Instead of only getting support through big legal plans, DfE aim to make more help available earlier and directly in mainstream schools and colleges. The reforms also aim to make sure health, education, and care services work together better, so young people don’t have to keep repeating their story to different people. Overall, the reforms are about making support quicker, simpler, and more consistent so every young person can succeed.

If you are blind or partially sighted, your voice is especially important. We want to know whether you think these new ideas will make learning more accessible: Will they improve access to specialist equipment, trained staff, accessible resources, and smooth transitions into further education or work? And is there anything missing?
In this session, you’ll be able to:
- Feed directly into the consultation process
- Say what you think would make a difference for blind and partially sighted students
- Suggest practical ideas to make the reforms work in real life.
