We are pleased to announce that the NatSIP Working Day Sensory Impairment - Going Forward on Tuesday 6 February 2018 is now open for booking.
||Tuesday 6 February 2018|
|Time:||10:00 - 16:00|
This NatSIP working day is for managers and members of specialist SI service providers, including those in SI settngs, VCS, agencies and organisations working together to secure better outcomes for children and young people with sensory impairment (CYP with SI).
During the day:
We will explore the latest developments across the Special Educational Needs and Disability areas which impact upon Sensory Impairment and the way services are commissioned for children and young people.
We will continue the work of the NatSIP workstreams in the contract with DfE for 2017 –18 and find out more about opportunities for partnership working in 2018-20.
Mark Geraghty (Co-chair, Lenehan Review) will discuss the findings in the Lenehan Report and the implications for commissioning services across the SI sector in the future
Dr Gail Deuce (SI researcher and practitioner) will draw upon her experience of over 30 years as a teacher of deaf and MSI children. As a practitioner and researcher with deaf/blind children, Gail will explore the understanding of Sensory Integration and Sensory Impairment
Brian Lamb (Lead, NatSIP Commissioning Workstream) will look at the Ofsted Local Area Review findings which have a focus on SI. As a result of the reports, how can SI services
position themselves to have greater influence in their own LAs?
There will be an update of emerging findings from NatSIP’s workstreams within the DfE programme 2017-18 and the national picture for SEND
NatSIP working groups will take place in the afternoon. These will include:
- SI examination guidance - including a pilot of the new online tool (Rory Cobb and Paul Simpson)
- Effective commissioning for your SI service (Brian Lamb)
- Regional commissioning for MSI and low incidence SEND (Mark Geraghty)
- Model Service Level Agreements (SLAs) - the principles across SI (Brian Gale)
- The cost for the day is £100/delegate reduced to £50/delegate for NatSIP-affiliated organisations.
